Lighting
Lighting may take up as much as 30% of a building’s electric bill in Hawaii.
Switching to energy efficient lighting is one of the simplest, quickest and most cost effective ways to save money on your electric bill. Indoor and outdoor lighting are among the biggest energy users for commercial buildings.
For the fastest and biggest return on investment, look into installing efficient lighting for the following areas: 24-hour lighting, stairwells, elevators, storage areas, parking garages, outdoors and common areas. Lighting controls, such as dimmers and occupancy sensors, can save even more energy.
For existing facilities, rebates are available for lighting retrofits and delamping. For new construction, rebates are available for installing high-efficiency lighting fixtures.
