Hawaii Energy is committed to increasing the availability of energy efficiency education in primary and secondary schools.
Our intent is to utilize the “Train the Trainer” methodology, whereby we provide teachers with training, curriculum and support and they in turn will transfer their newly acquired knowledge to their classrooms. We've partnered with The National Energy Education Project to provide energy education workshops for teachers and educators of K-12 schools in Hawaii, Honolulu and Maui counties.
To encourage attendance and participation, Hawaii Energy also provides substitute teacher reimbursements so that teachers are able to attend the all-day training.
The NEED Project’s mission is to promote an energy conscious and educated society. NEED is the nation’s leading provider of energy education programs and materials to schools. The NEED Project includes teacher-tested educational materials, evaluation techniques and tools, recognition of student achievement, and professional development for educators. All NEED learning activities are correlated to Hawaii science content and performance standards.
