We recycle, you get paid! Rid-a-Fridge makes it easy for residential electric customers to surrender old, working refrigerators and freezers. We will recycle old, working units for FREE and pay you. Residents of Hawaii island, Maui County and Oahu will receive $75 for each one.

How to Get Started for Honolulu

Step 1: Retrieve your Contract ID # from your utility bill.  The Contract ID # can be found on the top right corner of your bill under the service address.  The Contract ID starts with the number 3 and is eight digits long.

Step 2: Retrieve information from your old working 14 cubic feet (or larger) refrigerator or freezer - make, model, serial number, approximate age and size.

Step 3: Call to schedule for a free pick-up. 537-5577 or toll-free 1-877-231-8222.

Step 4:  The hauler will pick up your old fridge or freezer (a receipt can be left upon request.) They will then submit the application on your behalf. Your rebate will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks.

Step 3: Download the application here, print, complete steps 1 – 3 on the application. Bring this application with you to Big Island Scrap Metal and have them stamp and sign in the designated area.  Make sure the applicant also prints and signs their name.
