Hawai‘i Energy Program Updates In Response To COVID-19

November 11, 2021

Appliance Rebates

As you may already be aware, the pandemic continues to affect the global supply chain and appliance manufacturing, causing product shortages and shipping delays. We expect these issues to continue into 2022 and we are already experiencing increased delivery times of up to 10-12 weeks for some products.

In response to this, we have extended the deadlines to submit rebate applications. If you have purchased a new appliance and are applying for a Hawai‘i Energy rebate, please submit your application after your new appliance is delivered. Should you have any questions, call us toll free at (877) 231-8222.

Workshops and Community Outreach

Following guidance from the CDC and local health and government officials, all workshops and community outreach will continue to be virtual, online when it is not possible to social distance. For more information on how to request a workshop, visit HawaiiEnergy.com/COMMUNITY.

Home Services

Programs which require in-home services have resumed for residents, while keeping COVID safety a top priority. These services include but are not limited to:

• Energy Smart 4 Homes – free in-home energy efficiency retrofits service

• On-site inspections of solar water heating and air conditioning system installations

• Refrigerator Trade-Up

All islands will continue to service homes in compliance with state and county recommendations.

October 9, 2020

For the island of Oahu, the Energy Smart 4 Homes program has resumed in-home services for those tenants who are not considered part of the high risk population. All islands will continue to service homes in compliance with state and county recommendations. We will provide updates as needed on this page.

September 9, 2020

For the island of Oahu, The Energy Smart 4 Homes program will continue to provide in-home services to vacant units only due to the recent rise in COVID cases. While we remain optimistic about continuing work in late September, everyone's safety is our top priority. We will reassess how to proceed based on state and county recommendations and will continue to provide updates on this page.

Mar. 17, 2020

Following guidance from the CDC and local health officials, Hawai‘i Energy will be suspending the following Residential services until further notice out of caution for the well-being of our customers and employees:

  • On-site inspections of solar water heating and air conditioning system installations
  • “Energy Unplugged” and “Sharing The Aloha” community workshops

Appliance haul-away and recycling will go on as scheduled (until otherwise notified), as well as our appliance deliveries on Moloka‘i, thanks to our partner Sustainable Moloka‘i. Understanding that this is an uncertain time for everyone involved, we will continue to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation and communicate any further changes to you as soon as we can. We appreciate your understanding.
