Water/Wastewater
Here in our islands, fresh water is a precious resource. Distribution, collection, conveyance and treatments account for over 3% of Hawaii’s total energy consumption. In 2013, these processes used over 290 million kWh/year, at a cost of more than $95 million dollars.
Our water distribution infrastructure is old and requires much maintenance. However, it’s estimated that 10-20% energy savings can be achieved through energy efficiency. With a potential this high, water and wastewater sectors represent one of the single largest savings opportunities in the state.
As public health and safety is the priority, pumping and treatment efficiency may not be at the forefront of daily activities. Hawaii Energy can assist your water or wastewater facility with energy-saving projects that can improve your systems without compromising public health and safety.
