Appliance Trade-Up Program
This program’s sign-up period has ended. For those who have placed an order, you may continue to check here (below) for updates about your exchange day.
Update 10/9/26 for those who ordered the upright freezer(s): Due to supply chain issues, your freezer delivery has been delayed and is expected to arrive tentatively around the week of 10/19. We will notify you as soon as an exchange date (for just freezers) is confirmed. Once the appliances are on island, we’ll contact you with those details. You will then have 2 weeks to bring your old appliances to the Island Movers warehouse located at 612A Kalanianaole Street. Please contact Lehua if you have questions at: 808-989-1821.
Update 10/9/26 for those who ordered the refrigerator(s): Reminder, October 17 is Exchange Day for refrigerators! If you haven’t signed up for a timeslot yet, please do so HERE.
Things to know on your respective exchange day:
1. Show up on time – Arriving at your reserved timeslot is critical in preventing backlog and traffic.
2. Location – Bring your old appliance(s) to the Island Movers warehouse located at 612A Kalanianaole Street.
3. Exchange – Island Movers will unload your old appliance for recycling then load your new appliance(s) into your vehicle for you.
4. Securing appliance(s) – Please be sure to bring your own straps. You will be responsible for securing your new appliances to your vehicle.
5. Bringing it home – Avoid transporting your appliance(s) on its side as you will not be able to plug it in unless it has been upright for at least 24 hours.

Energy Smart 4 Homes
Energy Smart 4 Homes (ES4H) is a FREE service for residents in Hilo that provides trained professionals to install energy-efficient products directly in your home. Products you’ll receive are valued at over $150 and can reduce the electricity costs for each household by up to $340 per year. That’s a total value of over $490! And while we’re there, we’ll complete a free home energy assessment to provide you with more energy-saving opportunities.
The installed free items will include the following:
- Energy-efficient LED light bulbs
- High pressure, high-efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators
- Advanced power strips

Energy UNPLUGGED – Community Workshop
Designed for residents of all ages and backgrounds, bring the ohana to this fun, local style workshop that “flips the switch” on common energy myths. As a community that understands the effects of climate change intimately, learn its connection to energy and why using less energy is important. Find out about no-cost tips to save energy and the many rebates currently available to help with appliance, water heating, and home cooling upgrades.
