Application period is open now through March 31, 2025
Hawaii Energy, the state’s energy conservation program, has partnered with Susannah Wesley Community Center (SWCC) to launch an appliance trade-up program for residents in west Honolulu. For a limited time, residents can trade in their old, working refrigerator or freezer for a new energy-efficient ENERGY STAR® model for $250. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2025.
“We’re grateful for the Susannah Wesley Community Center, who has been serving the Kalihi-Pālama community for more than a decade,” said Caroline Carl, executive director of Hawaii Energy. “Through the West Honolulu Trade-Up program, we provide the opportunity for local families to replace old, energy-draining refrigerators and freezers with new energy-efficient models to save energy and money in their home.”
Applications are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is open to Hawaiian Electric customers located in zip codes 96817 and 96819. To qualify, applicants must have a working appliance greater than 14 cubic feet. Delivery of the new model and recycling of the old unit are available at no cost with expected delivery in late April to early March. Specific dates and times will be determined based on the number of applications received.
To apply and for more information, residents can download the application form available at hawaiienergy.com/west-honolulu or pickup an application at SWCC (1117 Kaili Street, Honolulu, 96819 Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.). Application and payment must be submitted by March 31, 2025.
