News Release:

Hawaii Energy Increases Residential Rebates for a Limited Time

Honolulu, Hawaii – For a limited time Hawaii Energy, the state’s energy conservation program, is increasing rebates to help residents save more on energy-efficient home upgrades. From March 3 through June 30, 2025, households can receive higher rebates for mini-split air conditioning systems, solar water heater installations, and heat pump water heater tune-ups.

“As energy costs continue to be a concern for many Hawaii residents, we’re pleased to offer enhanced rebates to make it easier to upgrade to energy-efficient solutions,” said Caroline Carl, executive director at Hawaii Energy. “These incentives help households lower their monthly electricity bills while also reducing strain on our islands’ energy resources.”

Hawaii Energy’s increased rebates include:

  • Mini-Split Air Conditioning System – Increased by $100 across all tiers, now offering up to $550 per unit.
  • Solar Water Heater System Installation – Increased by $500 to $2,000 per installation.
  • Heat Pump Water Heater Tune-Ups – Increased by $100 to $200 per maintenance service.

These rebates are available to residential electric utility ratepayers on Hawai‘i Island, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, and Oahu. They are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to fund availability. Kauai residents are serviced by a utility cooperative and therefore are not eligible for Hawaii Energy rebates.

Hawaii Energy encourages residents to take advantage of the increased incentives before the June 30 deadline. For more information or to apply for a rebate, visit hawaiienergy.com/rebates.
